UAE Armed Forces to Receive Al Shabah Training-Jet
Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. -- (WAM) March 21, 2001 -- The Abu Dhabi-based National Targets Establishments (NTE) would deliver 30 of its unmanned aerial target training aircraft (Al Shabah) to the UAE Armed Forces during this year, the company Chairman, Abdullah Al Omeira said.

"The company has already signed a contract with the UAE Armed Forces for the supply of the aircraft. ''
Al Shabah, the company's flagship product was under research and development for the last year and it is fully tested,'' he said.
''With a multi-million dirhams plant in Musafah Industrial Zone, the NTE is considered to be the first national company to produce this kind of the Delta wing rear-mounted 26 horse-powered engine in the whole Gulf Region,'' Omeira told a press conference on the third consecutive day of IDEX 2001.
He said that the aircraft was demonstrated for the first time at IDEX 1993, but he added, several modifications had been made to improve and upgrade its capabilities.
''We plan to market our product in local, regional and global markets. It is a difficult mission to compete with major manufacturers in the global markets,'' he said, adding that his company had been negotiating with British and global companies to gain more know-how. ''The company has plans to develop two different products besides Al Shabah to serve the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) market,'' he added.
