The signature of the development and production contract for the Airbus Military Company A400M transport aircraft was greeted with enthusiasm by Aero Propulsion Alliance (APA). APA is the joint-venture aero engine company that has been selected to provide the TP400 engine for the A400M.
APA Managing Director Pierre Drevet said: "Signing the contract is another important milestone in the long-term aircraft and engine programme. We are committed to working closely together with Airbus Military Company to provide the best solution possible for Europe's transport aircraft needs."
Headquartered in Munich, Germany, APA also has a liaison office in Paris, France. The company manages the TP400 programme and acts as the single point of contact for customers, the European nations - through the procurement agency OCCAR - and Airbus Military Company.
The companies that comprise APA are Rolls-Royce (United Kingdom and Germany), Snecma Moteurs (France), MTU Aero Engines (Germany), ITP (Spain), FiatAvio (Italy) and Techspace Aero (Belgium).
Shareholding in APA is equal to the workshare percentages in the TP400 programme. MTU, Rolls-Royce and Snecma Moteurs each hold 24.8 per cent, ITP 13.6 per cent, FiatAvio 8 per cent and Techspace Aero 4 per cent. Inclusion of additional partners in the programme is dependent on discussions with potential new customers and participating companies.
