VISTA Flies to Design Electro-Optical Training
Edwards Air Force Base, California -- March 2, 2001 (AFPN) -- The U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School here, used its NF-16D VISTA -- short for variable-stability in-flight simulator test aircraft -- to help build electro-optical training for its students. During three actual curriculum development flights, VISTA was loaded with Maverick training missiles. Planned electro-optical sorties will allow student test pilots, test navigators and flight test engineers to observe -- in flight -- differences between using visible and infrared sensors for acquiring and attacking ground targets.
