Boeing Delivers Xiamen Airlines its First Next-Generation 737-800

Seattle, Washington -- (Boeing) February 10, 2006 -- Boeing [NYSE:BA], Xiamen Airlines and GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) today, celebrated the delivery of the airlines first Boeing Next-generation 737-800 commercial jetliner.

The newly delivered 737-800, configured for 170 passengers, is the largest 737 variant in Xiamen's 737 fleet and will be used on the airline's longer-range routes. The airplane is equipped with performance-boosting Blended Winglets. The 737-800 delivered today is the first of five Xiamen is taking on lease from GECAS.

"These 737-800s will provide excellent reliability and efficiency, which will enable a profitable operation as quickly as possible," said Yang Guanghua, president of Xiamen Airlines.

"The Next-Generation 737 family excels in the short-to-medium-range market, delivering high profitability, optimum efficiency and reliability and a design that is 10 years newer than its competition."

In December 2005, Xiamen Airlines' order for 10 737-800s contributed to a record order year for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The Xiamen order also pushed 737 total orders to more than 6,000 since its introduction. No other jet airplane in commercial aviation history has achieved the sales success of the 737.

Established 21 years ago, Xiamen Airlines currently operates an all-Boeing fleet of 27 737s and nine 757-200s on more than 100 domestic and international routes. The carrier has operated all three generations of the 737, starting with the 737-200. It currently operates Classic 737-300s and 737-500s and Next-Generation 737-700s.

The Next-Generation 737 airplane family is the most technologically advanced single-aisle jet family on the market today. The jets fly higher, faster, farther, and more quietly than competing models. As of January 31, 2006, 95 customers have placed orders for more than 3,000 Next-Generation 737s; the program has 1,154 undelivered units in its order backlog with a value of more than $73 billion at current list prices.

GECAS has long been an important Boeing customer, offering the 737, 747, 757, 767 and 777 to operators. GECAS, which will receive its 200th 737 later in the year, has been highly successful in placing Boeing airplanes with operators from every continent, including many of the world's most prestigious airlines.

GECAS is the commercial aircraft financing and leasing business of General Electric. GECAS has a fleet of 1,400 owned aircraft it leases to more than 225 airlines in some 60 countries, and it manages nearly 300 aircraft for others.
